  • 1. What is NATA?

    • The national aptitude test in architecture (NATA) measures the
      aptitude of the applicant for specific field of study, i.e. Architecture

  • 2. Who is eligible for NATA?

    • Any person having passed 10th Standard or equivalent examination,
      for details Clause 2 “Eligibility” in the NATA Brochure.

  • 3. Where to appear for NATA?

    • At designated Test Centers located at centers/colleges/ schools of
      architecture in India. Updated list of Test centers is available at the
      website http://www.nata.in

       

  • 4. When to appear for NATA?

    • one-day examination (paper based, OFFLINE) all over the country on 16.04.2017 (Sunday). 

       

  • 5. How to register for NATA?

    • 1. Candidate can apply for registration for NATA 2017online at
      website http://www.nata.in by paying fees of Rs.1250.00 either
      through credit cards / debit cards / netbanking or can generate the
      challan for depositing the fees by way of cash in any of the branch
      of the ICICI Bank Ltd. all over India (processing charges extra).
      2. Identify a Test Center (from the website http://www.nata.in) at a
      location convenient to the candidate.
      3. Approach the Test Center with the printout of the online form
      filled alongwith required documents and proof for the payment
      made.
      4. Select convenient date for appearing for the NATA.
      5. Request Test Center to register the candidate on the selected
      date.
      6. Procure Receipt cum Appointment voucher

  • 6. How to appear for NATA?

    • Report to the test center at least 30 minutes before scheduled time
      of test with Receipt cum Appointment voucher, valid photo ID and
      drawing material required for the test. Test Center personnel will
      guide you regarding the further process.

  • 7. When and where is the Score card available?

    • The score cards will be available on NATA website in e-format,
      usually, on the by 10th June, 2017 .

       

  • 8. What is the passing score at NATA?

    • Will be decided based on post-exam statistics, 

      Minimum Marks scoring to pass:

      1.Min 30/120 in MCQ ( Maths & Aptitude)

      2.Min 20/80 in Drawing

      (However 30+20=50 should not be understood as the total qualifying mark)

  • 9. Where can a candidate seek admission on the basis of NATA?

    • A candidate may apply for admission to any of the participating
      institutions as per the time schedule specified by the respective
      appropriate admission authority, along with all the documents
      desired by it.

  • 10. What is the last date for giving NATA?

    • The last date for NATA would be 02.02.2017

       

  • 11. What is the meaning of Admission Authority?

    • Admission Authority is a body, authorised by the Central/State Govt. / University to conduct
      and monitor admissions in that area. This may vary from the Directorate of Technical Education
      itself, a major University, Institution(s), a body created by an association of Architectural Schools
      in that State (eg. MASA), or any other Admission Authority recognised by the state. The candidate
      may be advised to check up in advance with Schools of Architecture where he / she is
      applying for the details of the admission authority and other information on the exact
      admission process.

       

  • 12. How do I practice for NATA? Where can I take Nata tuitions?

    • NATA is designed in such a manner that prior tutelage is not required. COA/NIASA is aware
      that the candidates will have no or minimal knowledge of architecture. NATA measures
      aptitude of the candidate in his / her aesthetic sensibilities (3D visualisation, logical
      understanding, etc.) and drawing skills that are in-built in every candidate and developed
      right from childhood to the present day. There will be certain questions on architectural
      awareness wherein candidates may be required to identify building of national or international
      importance. The candidate is expected to know about these structures through General
      Knowledge. The candidate may also prefer to update his knowledge on this by some reading,
      internet browsing or even by talking to architectural students, architects and other knowledgeable
      persons. In all probability, this will not be required. There will be a model NATA interface
      available on the NATA website to help candidates get acquainted with the visual format of the
      test. There will be no model questions available as such. The language medium of the test will be
      English. Minimal computerskills are required (pointing and clicking Mouse buttons).

       

  • 13. I am a foreign student / NRI. Can I take the test from my country of residence?

    • *Those opting for Dubai as their first choice of Exam city need to fill up two more choices mandatorily.

       
      *Dubai may be dropped as an exam city in case of inadequate number (less than 300) of candidates.
       
      *The candidates allotted to exam centre in Dubai as per their first choice, shall be liable to pay an additional fee of INR 7000 per candidate prior to issuance of Admit Card.
       
      *The mode of payment of aforesaid additional fee would be notified in due course.
       
      * Dubai cannot be chosen as second or third choice of exam city
       
       

  • 14. IfI belong to a particular quota (SC/ST/NT/etc.), do I getscorewaiverforNATAduring admission?

    • No.

  • 15. Are there any additional fees payable for training, etc?

    • No training/coaching is allowed in Test Centres and no other fees payable for this exam. If any
      centre indulges is such practice or insists on additional fees or participation in training program,
      please report such incident to Council of Architecture or NIASA

  • 16. Whether old question papers are available?

    • No. At NATA, question paper is unique of each candidate hence no old question papers can be
      made available.
      For any other questions please register at NATA website (http://www.nata.in) and get into
      'Forum' section. You can post your queries here. Please search before you post the query. It
      may be already raised by some other candidate and already answered.

  • 17. There is no provision for students wishing to appear for both the exams at different centers i.e Paper -1 be Computer based and Paper -2 being Pen and Paper based

    • Since Paper-2 is only in offline mode, a student who is appearing for both the papers
      , paper 1 being online mode and paper 2 being offline mode will only get such centers that have
      facility for both the modes of examination. For example: Test centers for this could be PATNA:
      PEN & PAPER BASED and COMPUTER BASED. Kindly refer to appendix 2 of information
      bulletin. Two different roll no and separate admit cards cannot be issued to a candidate to
      appear at different centres for paper 1 and 2 separately.

  • 18. What is the Eligibility for private candidates?

    • As per Page No 12: 2.9.2 - Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination (QE),
      only those candidates who have passed their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying
      examination in 2013 or 2014; or those who are appearing in their Class 12th Exam or any
      equivalent qualifying examination in 2015 are eligible to appear in JEE (Main) - 2015.
      Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2012 or before as well as those
      who will appear in such examination in 2016 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main)-
      2015. Candidates who appeared in class 12th/equivalent Qualifying Examinations in 2012, did
      not pass in 2012, but passed in 2013 are also not eligible to appear in JEE (Main) 2015. This
      criteria is applicable for both private and regular candidates. Private candidate can fill
      ‘xxx’ against the school name column.

  • 19. What is Eligibility for Diploma Students in JEE-Main 2015?

    • Yes, to appear in JEE (Advanced) a diploma holder can apply in JEE Main 2015 but
      his rank and score for JEE (Main) will not be declared as diploma holders cannot apply for
      admission in NITs and CFTIs through JEE (Main) channel.

  • 20. What are HSC vocational courses?

    • Different states can have different HSC vocational courses, so students of different
      states will have to verify it from their particular state.

  • 21. How will an NRI or a foreign student enter his/her mobile number?

    • Such candidates can enter the mobile number against the field of landline number.

  • 22. Will a candidate have a choice to change the mode of examination?

    • Yes, but a candidate can change mode of examination from pen and paper
      examination to computer based examination only.

  • 23. While paying the fee, what a candidate can do in case of failed transaction?

    • If the payment status of online transaction (by credit/debit card) is not
      communicated by payment gateway in real time then fee payment is not completed. After
      reconciliation if the amount is found debited, the same will be processed at payment gateway
      for refund.
      Candidates are required to pay the fees again either through online transaction or by e- challan
      and to download the acknowledgement page . Your amount will be refunded back within 7 to
      10 days. Use internet explorer 6 or above.

  • 24. Whether the Hindi Medium paper will come in both the languages?

    • Yes, Hindi medium paper will be bilingual in English and Hindi medium.
       

  • 25. Why are there no sample papers for offline exams?

    • The mock test available on website is for all the candidates who have opted either
      for pen and paper based mode or computer based mode. However it is also for practice purpose
      and to give candidates look and feel of the Computer Based Examination (CBE).
      Questions from the previous years are uploaded on JEE (Main) website.

  • 26. What is Computer Based Examination (Online mode)?

    • It is a Computer Based Exam which will be
      conducted using the Local Area Network (LAN) to
      make it safe, secure and un-interrupted.

  • 27. What are the advantages in opting for Computer Based Examination?

    • a) The candidate can review or re-answer any
      question at any point of time during the
      examination.
      b) The candidate can change the option of the
      answer during the exam duration and it is one
      of the most important feature of computer
      based examination
      c) The candidate also has the option to mark any
      answer for review at later stage during the
      examination.
      d) There will be a panel on computer screen
      showing all the question nos in different
      colour scheme which will indicate which are
      the questions answered, left un answered and
      marked for review
      e) Candidate gets the flexibility in choosing the
      exam date of his/her choice as per his/her
      convenience.
      f) It will make Candidate feel confident on use of
      Information technology.
      g) You can also save upto Rs. 500 in Exam fees
      compare to Pen/Paper mode.

  • 28. How to apply and what is the last date of applying for computer based exam?

    • Candidates can apply through JEE(Main) website.
      The last date is 16th January  2017 as per the declared
      schedule.

  • 29. Is Computer Based Examination based on Internet?

    • No

  • 30. What are the dates for Computer Based Examination?

    • The dates of examination are 02nd & 8,9 April 2017.

  • 31. When a candidate can select the date of computer based examination ?

    • At the time of filling the form for JEE(Main) itself.

  • 32. What will be the time of computer based examination?

    • The exam will be twice a day i.e. in two shifts. First
      shift from 09.30 - 12.30 Hours [IST] and Second shift
      (if required) from 14.00 - 17.00 Hours [IST]

  • 33. When will a candidate has to report at exam centre ?

    • 30 minutes before the exam time

  • 34. What computer knowledge is required to appear for Computer Based Examination ?

    • The candidate need to know only how to use
      computer mouse. That is at the most required.

  • 35. Can the date of exam once selected be changed, if required?

    • No

  • 36. What will be the medium of Computer Based Examination?

    • All Examination Centre Cities English and Hindi

  • 37. Can a candidate get an examination center of his/her choice?

    • The Candidate can opt for city of his/her choice as
      per list of computer based exam cities at the time of
      filling application form only.

  • 38. How secure is the computer based examination?

    • It is very secure with zero error possibility as human
      intervention is minimal.

  • 39. Who is eligible for JEE Main 2017?

    • For JEE(Main)-2017, Only those candidates who have passed their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2015 or2016; or those who are appearing in their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2017 are eligible to appear in JEE(Main)- 2017. Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2014 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2018 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main) – 2017. Candidates who appeared in class 12th/equivalent qualifying Examinations in 2014, did not pass in  2014, but passed in 2015 are also not eligible to appear in JEE (Main) 2017.

  • 40. If a candidate has passed in 2015/2016 and has appeared for improvement in 2017, what he will fill in the academic details section

    • Select the year of passing class 12th as 2015/2016 and enter the roll number, name of the board and other details of 2015/2016 in the application form. Select ‘yes’ in the column – appearing for improvement examination. The roll number of improvement examination 2017 may be filled in the month of March at the time of downloading admit cards of JEE (Main).

  • 41. What is the State of Eligibility for the Improvement Candidates/Institution Abroad/NIOS?

    • If a candidate has passed Class 12th/ Equivalent qualifying examination from one state but appeared for improvement from another state, his/her state code of eligibility will be from where he/she has originally passed Class 12th/ Equivalent qualifying examination and not the state from where he/she has appeared for improvement. Indian nationals passing the equivalent qualifying examination from an institution abroad, the State of Eligibility will be determined on the basis of permanent address in India as given in the Passport of the candidate. Candidate passed/appearing class 12th from NIOS should select the State of Eligibility according to the state in which the study Centre is located. The State of Eligibility is not applicable for the candidates belonging to Nepal /Bhutan/Foreign/OCI/PIO.

  • 42. In case photograph is not having name and date, would the form be rejected?

    • Name of the candidate and date on which the photograph is taken is to be mentioned on the photograph, but in case uploaded photograph does not have name and date, the form will not be rejected and no correction is required in such a case and he/she will be issued admit card for appearing in JEE (Main) – 2017 as usual.

  • 43. Is thumb impression mandatory while filling JEE(Main) - 2017 form?

    • There is no need to upload thumb impression in online application of JEE(Main)-2017.

  • 44. How will an NRI or a foreign student enter his/her mobile number?

    • Such candidates should enter the mobile number of his/her relative residing in India.

  • 45. What is Eligibility for Diploma Students in JEE-Main 2017?

    • Yes, to appear in JEE (Advanced) a diploma holder can apply in JEE (Main) 2017 but his/her rank and score for JEE (Main) will not be declared as diploma holders cannot apply for admission in NITs and CFTIs through JEE (Main) channel. 

  • 46. What are HSC vocational courses?

    • Different states can have different HSC vocational courses, so students of different states will have to verify it from their particular state.

  • 47. Name of the boards recognized under Association of Indian Universities

    • Kindly visit the website www.aiuweb.org.

  • 48. If continuous time out or file not found error occurs while filling online application of JEE(Main)-2017?

    • Use Mozilla Firefox/Internet Explorer (above 9.0) and good internet connection while filling online Application Form. In case of continuous times out clear cookies and history of the browser and fill in off-peak hours.

  • 49. While paying the fee, what a candidate can do in case of failed transaction?

    • If the payment status of online transaction (by credit/debit card) is not communicated by payment gateway in real time then fee payment is not completed and candidate will not be able to download acknowledgement page. In this case, the candidates are required to pay the fees again either through online transaction or by e- challan and download the acknowledgement page. Your amount of failed transaction of credit/debit card will be refunded back within 7 to 10 days to card account. In case, fee payment is made through e-challan and the fee is not updated on the website, the candidate should contact the concerned bank/branch for updation of fee. Even if the challan is not updated by the bank till last date, such candidates should send the copy of paid e-challan through e-mail on jeemain@nic.in.
